Anelay Continues Restoration Works At Wakefield Waterfront
York and Manchester based building conservation and restoration specialists William Anelay Ltd in conjunction with architects NPS North East Ltd have begun the task of re-roofing the Caddies Wainwright building in the latest phase of on-going regeneration works at Wakefield Waterfront.
The project which is due to last 16 weeks, will involve the re-roofing of a disused Victorian textile mill. Works will include stripping of the roofs, timber and leadwork repairs followed by the reinstatement of existing slates. Cast iron rain water goods will be refurbished or replaced where necessary.
They are also safeguarding an 18th century watermill with a supporting scaffolding frame and a temporary roof. This work is discretely hidden behind an artistic impression of the building, which was commissioned by The Hepworth Wakefield, located nearby.
William Anelay’s Managing Director Vernon Carter commented: “We are pleased to be back safeguarding another building along the Wakefield waterfront.”
Established in 1747, William Anelay Ltd is one of the oldest companies in the UK and currently operates out of bases in York and Manchester with over 100 staff and an annual turnover of £15 million.
They are one of the UK’s few dedicated building restoration firms and have worked on many prestigious commercial and private residential projects across the British Isles and Europe.
