A Priory Engagement For Ornate Interiors!

Pudsey-based specialist plastering firm Ornate Interiors has recently been awarded the £160,000 contract to refurbish the stable blocks at the National Trust venue Nostell Priory near Wakefield.

Built on the site of a medieval priory, Nostell was commissioned by Sir Rowland Winn in 1733 with James Paine building the house and later additions by Robert Adam.

The 22-year-old firm will be carrying out a range of works including lime plastering, restoration of plaster mouldings and rendering to the exterior of the buildings

Ornate Interiors Managing Director Ronnie Clifford explained: “Nostell Priory is a wonderful venue and typical of the kind of landmarks we work on all the time at Ornate Interiors.

“It’s a complex programme of works that will involve a lot of our resources and will be completed by July 2012,” added Ronnie.

Ornate Interiors Ltd carries out traditional lime plastering and manufactures and installs highly decorative fibrous plaster mouldings principally for stately homes, listed buildings, hotels, churches, homes and theatres across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe and recently picked up the leading industry award, the Humber Silver Salver, for its work on a new Metro station in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

The company also works on behalf of municipal bodies, architects, contractors and surveyors in compiling restoration surveys of buildings that require repairs and is also currently recruiting for a range of plastering courses to be run over the next year.
