Role Reversal For GB Gold Medal Winner!

Golf is a real family affair for Ben Horner from Menston!

The 28-year-old notched a gold medal at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens where he represented Great Britain and his proud mum, dad and brother were there to cheer him on!

Ben tore up the field from day one of the four round tournament with father Adrian, a chartered surveyor, acting as his caddy.

"We are all very proud of what Ben has achieved out here with the Special Olympics and he kept his head through the final round to secure victory," said Adrian, himself a keen golfer who plays off 17 at Ilkley Golf Club.

Ben started playing around ten years ago after acting as caddy for his dad and his mum, Heather, took up the game soon after. Ben's brother, 26-year-old Richard who has just completed a degree at Glasgow University, also plays the game.

"Its ironic that the roles have reversed this week with me caddying for Ben," exclaimed Adrian "but I've enjoyed every second out on the course here in Athens with my son."

Ben commented: "It's great win gold for GB!"
